ABOUT CCA

Founded in 1995, Cape May, New Jersey’s Center for Community Arts is a multicultural education organization whose arts and humanities programs foster creativity, community building, and appreciation for the rich diversity of our world.

Our programs have developed a fine track record of opening community dialogue and promoting interaction across social and economic groups.

CCA received a Citation for Excellence from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and its staff and board members have been recognized as Emerging Preservation Leaders by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

YAP is our year-round Youth Arts Program which has received awards from the Cape May County Municipal Alliance and the Cape May County Healthy Communities Coalition.

Our Community History Program, begun as an effort to preserve Franklin Street School, documents and exhibits the history of Cape May County’s long-established African American community.

CCA is preserving related artifacts, documents and photographs in its John T. and Janet D. Nash African American History Archives.

Our efforts have led to New Jersey designating Franklin Street School an African American Historic Site.
