SECOND ANNUAL CAPE ISLAND SCARECROW CONTEST
Center for Community Arts (CCA) invites anyone living or doing business on Cape Island to enter the Second Annual Cape Island Scarecrow Contest. The contest is in conjunction with the Harvest Country Fair, September 17 at Rea’s Farm in West Cape May.
Participants are asked to build an original scarecrow at their home or business, organization or school location, as part of their fall decorating. “Be creative and have fun,” said Judy Austermiller, CCA’s Development Director and coordinator of the contest. “Your imagination is the limit!”
Entry forms are due by September 9, and can be picked up at CCA’s office, 712 Lafayette, or requested by calling 884-7525. Photographs will be taken of each entry between September 10 and 15, judging will take place on the 16th and the winners will be announced at the Harvest Country Fair on the 17th. Photos of all entries will also be displayed at the Fair. Prizes will be awarded in Business, Organization/School and Individual/Family categories.
Last year’s first place winners were Laura McPherson (Family/Individual), and White Dove Cottage (Business), with second place going to the Mazzille Family and Good Scents. Contest judges awarded Honorable Mentions to the Isenhart Family, the Krobatsch Family, and the Smilyk Family; Cape Island Gardens and Whiskers.
