DR. CHEEKO BAND TO PLAY CCA BENEFIT
Center for Community Arts announced that the hot dance ensemble, Dr. Cheeko Band, will have the Ballroom at Congress Hall hopping at Evening in Paris, its Spring Gala Benefit on Friday, March 10 from 7:30 - 11:00 p.m. The party includes the Chapeau Challenge, with prizes to the men and women wearing the most creative hat or beret. The Dr. Cheeko Band plays a great mix of island sounds and popular music. Whether playing percussions or on vocals, "The Doctor" has been involved in music his whole life. Originally from the Islands, he spent many years in Miami, Florida, before finally settling in New Jersey. He has assembled a fantastic mix of talented musicians, who can play just about any type of music imaginable. Whether playing in the United States, the Caribbean, South America, or Europe, Dr. Cheeko never fails to bring down the house.
After touring with Patti Labelle and a stint in several Broadway productions, Jimmy Ingrahm (sax and keyboard) joined up with Dr. Cheeko, where he anchors the rhythm and blues end of the band. Originally from the Bahamas, Frankie Gibson brought his bass and vocal stylings to the Dr. Cheeko Band after lending his recording & engineering talents to such diverse musical groups as Talking Heads, Iron Maiden, and reggae artists Sly & Robbie. As lead vocalist, his voice is instantly recognizable, whether singing covers or one of the many original tunes that he has written.
Timmy Ingrahm comes to the band following a tour with Patti Labelle. His musical talents include brass, percussions, and vocals. Whether on congas or drums, his driving rhythms never fail to fill the dance floor.
After heading up the popular funk 'n roll band, "The Redtones," Steve May brought his incredible talent to the Dr. Cheeko Band. Playing everything from mellow ballads to pounding rock 'n roll, Steve's sizzling guitar licks are an electrifying experience.
