It’s your last week to be part of the creation of the Center for Community Arts Cape Island Community Mural. The final workshops are Tuesday and Thursday, August, 22 and 24, at the Franklin Street Civic Center, and Wednesday and Friday, August 23 and 25, at Cape May City Elementary School. All four workshops are from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The workshops are free, and no experience is necessary.

West Cape May artist, Susan Ross, will teach community members how to glaze tiles made at previous workshops. The tiles will become part of a large mosaic of Ross’ design, depicting Cape Island, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Delaware Bay, that will adorn the entrance hall to the Franklin Street School Community Cultural Center, scheduled to open in 2008.

Ross will also invite the community to glaze tiles at the West Cape May Farmers Market on Tuesdays August 22 and 29.

The project is supported by grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and many generous businesses and individuals.

For more information, please call 884-7525 or see http://www.centerforcommunityarts.org/.
