Our Youth Arts Program sponsors a variety of arts and social activities for youth and children ages K to 14.

Saturday Night Youth Arts Program (YAP)

Arts and social activities every Saturday night throughout much of the school year for youth in grades 5-8 with a new theme each semester. Activities run 6pm-9pm, are free and include a light supper. Locations: Cape May, Lower Township and Wildwood.

Art at the Library

Activities combine literature and art where children read a book about a famous artist and create a work of art. This program is in partnership with the Cape May County Library. Program runs bi-monthly during the school year from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Parental participation is welcomed. Ages 6-10. Locations: Cape May City, Wildwood Crest and Lower Township

YAP Summer Art Camp

Arts activities for youth ages 10-14, Monday through Friday with new theme each week. Camps normally run eight weeks, 9am-12 noon, all materials and a snack are included. Locations:

Kids' Camp

Arts activities for youth ages K-9, Monday through Friday with new theme each week. Camp runs six weeks, 9am-12 noon, all materials and a snack are included.

Location: Cape May

 

Camp Congress Hall

Evening arts activities for youth ages 4-12, with a variety of themes each week. Camp runs nightly (Tuesday and Thursday excluded) from 5:30pm-9:30pm, all materials and dinner are included. This camp is in partnership with Congress Hall and is open to hotel guests and the public.Registration is handled by Congress Hall and advance registration is suggested.
Location: Cape May's Congress Hall.

Annual Events for Kids:

  • Young People's Jazz Program
    Guitar, Jazz Improvisation, Saxophone, Voice and Drumming workshops held every April and November, in association with the Cape May Jazz Festival.
  • The Great Cookie Exchange
    A holiday party every December for the young at heart at the Cape May City Elementary School, 921 Lafayette Street.
  • Dolores Cheney Youth Arts Fair
    A celebration every May of the artistic spirit and talent of our community's youth and the teachers who nurture them. Winners of the Dolores Cheney Gift to Young People, a scholarship fund that provides stipends for summer study in the arts, are announced at the Youth Arts Fair.

YAP is made possible, in part, by grants from the Lower Cape Alliance and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, Administered by the Division of Culture & Heritage for the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the.Byrne Fund for Wildwood.
