Center for Community Arts goals are to foster creativity within the children of Cape May and the surrounding areas. We offers free art programs from the fall through the spring for Cape May and Lower Township children for ages 9 to 14. We also offer Art at the Library in the Wildwood Crest, Lower Township and Cape May City libraries for ages 6 to 9.
Art at the Library, taught by local artist Penelope Cake, is an engaging program in partnership with the Wildwood Crest, Cape May & Lower Township Libraries, where kids aged 6-9 combine the reading of literature and the making of art. Parental participation is welcome!
Location and Time: At the Wildwood Crest Library on Tuesdays, Lower Township Library on Wednesdays and Cape May City on Thursdays. Each libraries' session is from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, starting January 17th.
CCA offers a class for elementary school children that explores creative thinking through movement, visual art, and writing during the school day. Each class has a theme and students will be led through activities in all three disciplines to explore that theme in weekly one and a half hour class sessions. Both independent and group work is used with an emphasis on self-awareness and positive group dynamics. This class is taught by local artist, Penelope Cake.
Local children aged 9 to 14 join local artists and their assistants who plan fun/creative curriculum for each week. Each week's curriculum offers children a chance to use the many mediums of art while exploring their talent and imagination.
